Lame

"legislation would issue controls on rates charged to merchants"...if congress and rest of government would worry about controlling their OVERCHARGING and not controlling others, we would be in much better shape. (of course their overspending needs controlling too, but they produce nothing and have a huge amount of money coming in. they are overcharging). If a credit card company wants more cash for their service, let them charge it. Who cares. Either it will be accepted and paid or it will not. Let the businesses and consumers decide by their choice, not a controlling government!!

Anyway, the same goes true for restaurants, grocery stores, and everything else we do everyday where we use the credit card. But, of course, gas prices are a hot topic so the media must exploit it more. News, news, news!!
